EVALUATION AND NEGOTIATION OF CONSTRUCTION CLAIMS

Construction claims and change orders are common with most larger construction projects.  In many cases, construction change orders are the result of changes in site conditions, design or market issues that could not have been foreseen at the time that the project was bid.  In most cases the cost of making these necessary changes can be easily negotiated.  In other cases, a third party evaluation of the actual work required to accomplish the approved change may be necessary to get a fair evaluation of the actual work performed.  REM Pipeline Consultants can provide these third party evaluation services and can assist with negotiation with the construction contractor.

Other construction claims are made by contractors during the course of the work or after the work has been completed based on claims that either the conditions were not in accordance with the contract or other actions or inactions of the client, its vendors or other subcontractors caused additional expenses to be incurred by the contractor.  These issues may require extensive investigation and negotiation to resolve.  REM Pipeline Consultants is skilled at performing these types of negotiations on behalf of Owner companies. 

As the Owner’s Engineer, REM Pipeline Consultants will work diligently to ensure that claims are settled and that the interests of the Owner are protected at all times during the process.  The utilization of REM Pipeline Consultants as the Owner’s Engineer in this process adds significant flexibility to the Owner’s negotiating position.
